MORPHIC POEM - HAIKAI
Web art
“Morphic Poem – Haikai” is a generative device that creates random neologisms from morphological particles of the Portuguese language—prefixes, roots, thematic vowels, and suffixes—arranged within the haiku structure (5–7–5), a short form of traditional Japanese poetry. Processed in real time and always producing unprecedented combinations of these particles, the work proposes a play between chance and language, evoking authors such as Mallarmé, Joyce, and Guimarães Rosa. Developed in JavaScript using the p5.js library and supported by AI tools, the piece continuously generates poems, revealing new words, meanings, and rhythms with each combination. This is an update of an earlier project based on the same principle of combining morphological particles, but originally developed in a videographic medium, which did not allow for the autonomous generation of new words.
