Tobias Gaede is a visual artist, researcher, and cultural producer affiliated with the Institute of Culture and Art (ICA). He was a founding member of Projeto Balbucio — an art collective based in Fortaleza — since its inception in 2003. He is a researcher at the Laboratory for Investigation in Body, Communication, and Art (LICCA-UFC) and a collaborating member of the Institute for Research in Art, Design and Society (i2ADS-FBAUP). He holds a degree in Social Communication (2007) and a Master’s in Communication with a focus on Photography and Audiovisual Studies (2011) from the Federal University of Ceará (Brazil). In 2023, he joined the PhD program in Fine Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (DAP-FBAUP). He is the author of the books Depredador (2020), Código Concreto (2024), and Vigília (2025), and has presented academic and artistic works at institutions and events such as ICIA (Poland), Actamedia – Colloque Multidisciplinaire de Processus Écriture (France), Seeing in Tongues – Los Angeles Center for Digital Art (USA), Besides the Screen (UK and Mexico), EmMeio#7.0 (Portugal), Incubarte – Asociación Cultural Pluton.cc (Spain), Under the Subway – The ANNEX Art Social Space (USA), Project Space Kleiner Salon (Germany), Performa 09 and 11 (Portugal), and GOSIM Hangzhou (China).
